At last - an update

Yeah, it's been a while but I'm still doing Project life and I love it more than ever now that I have two kids to scrapbook for. Question is if I still scrapbook? Lots of people seems to think I don't but I really think Project life IS scrapbooking. It's about documenting our life in pictures and words and to me, that's scrapbooking. I am adding bits and pieces, extra photos, enlargements and occational layouts (mostly digital) to my albums and I love, love how it gives me such an amazing summary of our life.

The kids love the albums and can spend hours flipping through them. Even my hubby thinks they are great and put up with me snapping pictures all the time.

My daughter with last years album

I'm so excited about Becky bringing back the contents of the Amber and Turquoise kits as I will have to buy an extra binder of each design. I'm using Amber for my 2011 project and Turquoise to make an album for my sons first year with us, 2008. Love them both and won't be alble to fit it all into one binder for each year.

And yes, for those who wonder, I did take a family portrait each month during 2010 and included them in the album. Even found a picture of us for January. They are more like enlarged snapshots then actual portraits, at least most of them but I love it.
For 2011 I add a family picture whenever we happen to take one, like every six weeks or something and that's fine too.

Waiting for my Project life

So I’m patiently waiting for my Project life kit that hopefully will arrive this week. I have selected my photos, bits and pieces to go with them and my journaling is kept in my blog (another blog) so everything is just waiting to be put together.
I did this project last year too and loved it. I love flipping through the album and seeing all those snapshots of our life, one for every single day and journaling for every single day. It was a lot of hard work but totally worth it.

This year I have decided to make it easier for myself by not journal every day. Let’s face it; though every single day in my life is unique there are days when you don’t have anything to say. And this year that will be okay for me. Some weeks I’ll do a summary of the week and some weeks I’ll journal all or just a few days. No rules, just what works best for me.

Some weeks I might include more pictures and I’m thinking of including a family portrait every month. I came up with the idea yesterday, figured I could make an enlargement to put on one of the twelve 12x12 patterned paper that comes with the kit. Then I realized I don’t have a family portrait for January and for a moment it felt like the whole thing is not worth doing when one month (and the first one!) is missing but really, how stupid is that? I’ll just put something else on the January page and it will be great.
The family portraits will be simple; I’ll just put my camera on the gorillapod and use the self timer. I really miss having photos of my whole family as a child so this is a way to make sure my children won’t feel the same. On the back of the 12x12 layout I’m thinking of jot down random thoughts about our family for the month and maybe include a headshot of each one of us but I’m not sure yet. Maybe this will be too much work, maybe it’s something I’ll do one month and then try something else the next.
No matter what I’m really excited about doing the whole thing and can’t wait to get started.
